Michael Pesses was sworn in as Chief of Police on July 17, 2017. Chief Pesses retired from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on May 31, 2017 after serving nearly 26 years. Chief Pesses brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience to the City of Marlin.
Chief Pesses was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He joined the United States Air Force in 1981 and attended Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He then attended Air Force Security Police and Military K-9 training at Lackland A.F.B. as well. Chief Pesses was assigned to the 3700th Security Police Squadron at Lackland A.F.B. after training. While serving on active duty Chief Pesses attended Reserve Law Enforcement training at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and became a reserve deputy serving both his country and his community.
Upon separation from active duty, Chief Pesses joined the Hollywood Park Police Department and in 1991 began his career with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Pesses worked as a Detention Officer, Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant, and retiring as a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division.
Chief Pesses was awarded the Medal of Valor and Life Saving Medal for acts of courage and bravery. He is a Master Peace Officer, Master Jailer, Firearms Instructor, and Law Enforcement Instructor. Chief Pesses earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University in Human Services/Criminal Justice and his Master’s Degree from Webster University in Management and Leadership. Chief Pesses is married to Michelle and have four sons and five grandchildren.
