Board of Adjustments

The Board of Adjustment responsibility is to consider variances - permission to modify the regulations of Title IV: Land Use of the Municipal Code - on a case-by-case basis. The Board consists of seven members and up to three alternate members.

Special Exception: This request permits consideration of specific land uses that generally do not conform with traditional use groupings in specific zoning cases. Consideration is given to setting, physical features, compatibility with surrounding land uses, traffic, aesthetics and allowing the control of land uses. The Board can apply conditions on the approval of the request, which may make the use more compatible with existing or planned land uses in the area.

Variance: In any specific case where the literal enforcement of the Zoning Code regulations would cause an unnecessary or unusual hardship, upon application, the Board may vary or modify that regulation.
